John Sheils
Consultant

John has over 25 years experience in the construction industry and practised as a Chartered Quantity Surveyour before re-qualifying as a solicitor. John trained with Charles Brown at the specialist construction lawyers-Freedmans. Subsequently, he worked in the professional indemnity department of Berrymans Lace Mawer. John then worked at Shadbolts and Co for 11 years where he was a partner. More recently John worked as a partner in the Dublin office of Beale and Co.

John is familiar with all the standard forms of construction and engineering contracts and has represented all sides of the industry including local authorities, developers, contractors, sub-contractors and construction professionals. John also has wide experience in contract reviews, adjudication, arbitration and litigation and all forms of alternative dispute resolution.

John has worked extensively in England, Ireland, the Middle East and Africa. He is a visiting lecturer in construction law at Kingston University and has contributed to many publications including Construction Law and Construction News.

John lectures widely including seminars for the Adjudication Society, ARBRIX, the Chartered Institute of Building and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
